Hostel Hedd resides within Cardigan’s old Police Station and Court House. Cardigan Police station opened on 1st September 1895 and served the town until June 2010. Community group 4CG bought the building along with the adjoining Court House and converted to a much needed bunk facility to service the visitors to Cardigan.
4CG’s full name is Cymdeithas Cynnal a Cefnogi Cefn Gwlad or the Society to Sustain and Support the Rural Countryside, it’s a co-operative organisation set up to advance community development through the regeneration of Cardigan and the surrounding area.
4CG was created by a small group of locals that felt they could enhance the area of Cardigan by developing and encouraging existing opportunities. 4CG focuses on the local economy and an attempt to encourage local people to shop locally to support small local businesses and prevent all local money going to distant shareholders in large companies.
